Ernest Oliver Tomberlin

November 5, 1936 ~ May 26, 2019 (age 82)

 

Mr. Ernest Oliver Tomberlin, 82, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29th at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Donnie Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Pinetta Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Zach Tomberlin, Hunter Tomberlin, Buddy Wynn, John Tomberlin, Delvin Tomberlin and David Fountain will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Tomberlin was born November 5, 1936 in Irwin County. He was the son of Julian Oliver Tomberlin and Laura Milner Tomberlin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He was of the Baptist faith and had served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. Mr. Tomberlin was Plant Operator with Tift General Hospital for thirty-one years. He had lived most of his life in Tift County. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and camping, especially to Southern Gospel music sings. Mr. Tomberlin was a hard worker and loved his family. He loved woodworking and was an excellent gardener.  He also enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing and was a great handy man.  He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Tomberlin is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Vita Jean Hutto Tomberlin of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Jodi Tomberlin of Tifton, Jerry and Misti Tomberlin of Juliette, Georgia, Mike and Imelda Tomberlin of Daytona, Florida; three grandchildren, Zach and Jessica Tomberlin, Hunter Tomberlin and Alli Tomberlin; great grandchildren, Mason Bowman, Carter Tomberlin, Avery Tomberlin; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Frances and Owen Bailey of Winter Springs, Florida, Ann Rosier of Grand Ledge, Michigan; two brothers, Roy and Joy Tomberlin of Ocilla, Buck and Linda Tomberlin of Emery, Texas.
