Albert "A.J." Julian Roberts, Sr. 75, peacefully departed this life on November 13, 2025, at his residence in Ashburn, Georgia. Born on March 21, 1950, in Irwin County, Georgia, A.J. was a dedicated man whose contributions to his family, community, and country will be fondly remembered.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Alf Roberts; his mother, Avie Marie Cook Roberts; his grandson, Hunter Harrell; his sister, Hazel Swinson; and his brother, Virgil Roberts.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Rickey Wells officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 250 Concord Church Circle, Sparks, Ga., 31647. Military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Monday, November 17, 2025 at the funeral home.
His grandsons, Troy A. Owens, Timmy Owens, Blade Harrell, Tommy Harrell, Justin Moore, Austin Roberts, Seth Harrell and Trentidy Bennett will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Bennett, Aren Roberts, Nick Harrell, Jason Turner, Little Ed Bennett, Mathew Webb and Mikey Harrell.
A.J. was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Army and was also a member of the Georgia Army National Guard. His commitment to hard work extended into his career, where he made his mark as a truck driver for Schneider Trucking Company. Known as a hard-working mechanic, he consistently demonstrated dedication and skill in his profession.
An educational pursuit that reflected his diligence led A.J. to graduate from high school as well as from a vocational-technical program. This foundation not only equipped him with the technical skills necessary for his career but also instilled in him a strong work ethic.
A.J. was not just known for his professional life; he was a man of many interests and passions. He found great joy in fishing and hunting, and his love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. These activities provided A.J. with opportunities to spend quality time with family and friends in the beauty of nature, creating lasting memories.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Vivillee Harris Roberts, and his children, Louann and Troy Owens of Ocilla, Dewanna and Edward Bennett of Fitzgerald, Yavette and Michael Harrell of Tifton, Julian Roberts, Jr. of Tifton, and Erric Roberts and Misty of Nashville. His twenty-three grandchildren and forty-seven great-grandchildren and his sisters, Mary Collins of Jacksonville, Florida, Vernice Dean of Tifton, and Mildred Smith of Alabama, who cherished their times together and the bonds they shared.
A.J.'s life was marked by love, responsibility, and dedication, and he will be remembered with affection by those who knew him.
