Alice Roysden ended her earthly journey, March 13, 2023.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Roysden was born November 30, 1926 in Wheatland, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Roysden, her parents, Beva and LeRoy Marsteller. her daughter, Barbara Kent, her sisters, Arlene Tota and Dorothy Marchant and her brother, LeRoy Marsteller. Mrs. Roysden is survived by her children, Beverly Brown, Betty Burger, Daniel Roysden (Cynthia) and Dean Roysden; in addition to eleven grandchildren, Wendy Newbern (Joseph), LeRoy Kent (Trina), Richard Kent, David Brown (Joy), Heather Lawson (Donald), Christopher Burger (Amanda), Matthew Burger (Bettina), Nathan Roysden, Kevin Roysden (Bre), Philip Roysden and Robert Roysden; sixteen great grandchildren, Tyler Widener, Amanda Mitchell, Victoria Kent, Gabriella Kent, Sophia Kent, Jordan Brown, Jacob Brown, Layton Lawson (Amanda), Jack Lawson, Sarah Lawson, Ethan Burger, Rocky Burger, Willa Burger, Emma Burger, Josef Steindorf and Robert Steindorf; and three great-great grandchildren, Kyler Salinas, Kinsley Lawson and Callie Lawson.
Alice was devoted to her friends and family. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and especially loved when that involved caring for the children, she was the ultimate spoiler of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – her own and those of her friends. Singing songs while playing the piano, playing games, drawing pictures and making cookies.
Alice was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tifton for more than forty years where she taught Sunday School and was an active member of the Loyalty Class, Women’s Circle and the Kitchen Band. Most recently, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of McRae, Ga. She was a life-long member of the American Legion Auxiliary serving in many capacities, most notably working alongside her husband at annual County Fairs for more than forty years at the American Legion Fairgrounds in Tifton.
Alice will be remembered as a devoted Christian woman who loved life, dancing, playing games, and most of all, with all her heart she loved family.
