Allen Wayne Pridgen

Mr. Allen Wayne Pridgen 75, of Tifton, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Keith Norris officiating.

Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Eastside Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be The Tifton Police Force.

Mr. Pridgen was born July 3, 1944 in Coffee County to the late Lonnie Pridgen and Bertie Fussell Pridgen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, R. L. Pridgen and Walter Pridgen and his sister Ruby Dean. Mr. Pridgen was a member of Eastside Baptist Church of Tifton for many years. He was retired as a police officer after thirty-two years and he was proud of his many years here in Tifton.  He had lived in Tift County for the past forty-seven years. Wayne loved the Lord and was active in his church where he worked in the Brotherhood Ministry and the Truckstop Ministries. For many years he was a school bus driver. Wayne loved to travel the country with his family and he especially enjoyed the trip to Alaska and the many trips to Tennessee. He was a mentor to young people and coached many in little league Sports. His family was the center of his life. He was a very loving, supporting and accepting husband and family man. He enjoyed the company of others and was always ready with a hug. Wayne loved to play golf and ride motorcycles. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed The Atlanta Braves and The Georgia Bulldogs.

Mr. Pridgen is survived by his wife Sharon Walker Pridgen to whom he was married for forty-eight years; three sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Missy Pridgen of Panama City, Florida, Darien and Karen Pridgen of Camilla and Chad and Mary Pridgen of Cumming; one grandchild, Allen Pridgen; one sister, Lola Mae Young of Tifton and one brother and sister-in-law, C.C. and Opal Pridgen of Ray.
