Alton Chaney

Alton Chaney, 78 of Tampa, Florida passed away on February 7, 2022.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Tift Memorial Gardens, 1754 US-82, Tifton, GA 31794. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors before the service at Tift Memorial Gardens.

Alton Chaney was born in Haines City, Florida, and resided in Tifton, Georgia, which he always called home. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Daniel and Alice Edna Music Chaney, his siblings Jeanette Westbrook, Wilene Smith, and Norman Chaney. Alton Chaney served in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy where he was an aircraft mechanic. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Dorris Allen Chaney. They met on a blind date at the movies with their best friends Will and Brenda Wilson. They married on August 10, 1963.

He is survived by his wife Dorris Chaney, and his three children: Robert Daniel Chaney, Mia Chaney Osborne (Rodney Osborne), and Denise Chaney Schnier, (Brian Schnier). He has ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
