April Lynn Batten Newkirk, 45, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. Born on August 23, 1980, in Pender County, North Carolina, April was a beacon of light and compassion, whose warmth touched the lives of many.

April’s gentle spirit and boundless kindness were evident throughout her life. As a daughter, she brought pride and joy to her parents, Johnny Wayne Batten and the late Arlene Worrell Batten. She cherished the lessons and love that her family instilled in her, carrying these guiding values through every chapter of her life.

Devotion defined April—she poured her heart into her family, forming an unbreakable partnership with her beloved husband, Michael Ray Newkirk. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter, a sanctuary where memories were made and each day celebrated the preciousness of togetherness. As a mother, April’s light shone brightest in her unwavering devotion to her son, Kaleb Ray Newkirk. Her nurturing presence, gentle encouragement, and steadfast support was always with him. April loved all of God's creatures and was known for asking her husband to stop and help animals out of the road. She had a wonderful smile, she was a selfless person and she never spoke an ill word about anyone. She was a cat lover, an avid crafter who was very creative. Most of her life she worked two jobs because she loved staying busy,

She shared a special bond with her aunt, Kitty Adkins, drawing strength and joy from their relationship. The legacy of her late mother, Arlene, continued to inspire and comfort her, just as April herself now leaves footprints on the hearts of those she leaves behind.

April’s life was not marked merely by milestones, but by the humility and grace with which she lived. She met challenges with quiet strength, celebrated joys with open arms, and never failed to offer a comforting word or heartfelt smile. Her memories will forever be wrapped in love by those who were fortunate to walk part of life’s journey with her.

She is survived by her husband Michael, her father Johnny, her cherished son Kaleb, and her aunt Kitty.

April Lynn Newkirk’s journey on this earth ended too soon, but the gifts of her heart remain—a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion. Her absence leaves a space no one can fill, but her memory will endure in the hearts of all who loved her.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 6:30 P.M. at Northside Baptist Church of Tifton.
