Barbara Smith Snyder, age 77, of Tifton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at Maple Court Assisted Living Center. Born on May 16, 1947, in Juliette, Georgia, Barbara was a proud graduate of Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, Georgia. Throughout her life, she exemplified kindness and compassion, earning her the rightful title of being the epitome of the word "sweet."
Funeral services will be held at Albritton Funeral Directors at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 27, 2025 with Rev. Keith Norris and Rev. David Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 3:00 to 3:45 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pat Marchant, Wes Shannon, Guy Haynes and other Deacons of Eastside Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
For many years, Barbara served as a bookstore attendant for Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College, where her love for people shone through in her daily interactions. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome, treating friends and neighbors as if they were family, despite being an only child herself. Her genuine affection for those around her created bonds that many cherished deeply.
Barbara's devotion extended to her church community at Eastside Baptist Church in Tifton, where she actively participated on the Bereavement Committee alongside her late husband, Dennis "Duke" Snyder. For forty-six wonderful years, Barbara and Duke shared a deep bond, filled with love, laughter, and mutual support until his passing on May 11, 2015. Together, they were instrumental in organizing the cookbook Feeding the Flock ministry and dedicated many years to the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoebox ministry, making a significant impact in the lives of others.
Barbara leaves behind her beloved son, Jeff Snyder of Tifton, numerous cousins and her kitty “Annie”. She is predeceased by her husband, Duke, as well as her father, Thomas Smith, and her mother, Faye Bowdoin Smith.
Barbara Smith Snyder will be fondly remembered first for her profound love and commitment to Jesus Christ along with her sweet nature, her unwavering love for her family, and her commitment to serving others, creates a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
