Mrs. Bettie Jean Cantrell Burkhead, 76, of Omega passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Frank Barfield officiating. Interment will follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, April 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Causey, Zachary Salmon, Bryan Glover, Brad Glover, Wade Glover and Daniel Collins.
Mrs. Burkhead was born August 20, 1941 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Everett Cantrell and Imoline Barnes Cantrell. She was married to Larry Monroe Burkhead, Sr., of Omega. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Larry Burkhead, Jr. who died 1974. She was a homemaker and member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Burkhead graduated from Baker High School in Muscogee County and had lived in Omega since 1989. She loved her family, cooking and watching the western channel. She was an avid reader.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Burkhead is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Everett and Sheri Collins of Rock Hill, South Carolina; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Wade Glover of Thomasville, Carmen and Dennis Salmon of Norwood, North Carolina, Tamara Lyn and Brad Lowder of Norwood; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by Billie Causey, who was like a sister to her, of Moultrie.
