Betty Carol (Jerkins) Dean

Betty Carol Jerkins Dean, 77, of Tifton died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 2:00pm in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn with Rev. Larry Dean officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-1:30pm on Friday, June 2, before the service at Albritton Funeral Directors chapel.

Mrs. Dean’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Dean was born on January 3, 1940 in Waverly, Florida to the late Leo DeSota and Lena Mae Jerkins. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida and played softball for her church league. Mrs. Dean was married to Horace Dean of Tifton for 57 years and they attended Morningside Baptist Church.   She loved crafts, especially woodworking and ceramics, working in her yards, gardening, Atlanta Braves baseball, and playing games, especially cards. Mrs. Dean loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her dog, Molly very much.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dean is survived by two sons, Kevin and Debbie Dean of Chiefland, Florida and Paul and Sydney Dean of Huntsville, Alabama; one daughter, Kim and James Perry of Tifton; one sister, Eloise May of Washington State, one brother, Donald and Shirley Jerkins of Maxville, Florida; her grandchildren, Jeremy and Ashley Dean, Cyndal and Brian Callihan, Anna Ruth Dean, Grace Dean, Jennifer and Dusty VanScoy, Becky and Kane Prew, Grant Britt, James Perry, Jr., Tyler Britt and Garth and Caitlyn Britt; and her great grandchildren, Emerson Dean, Hadley Callihan, Chloe VanScoy, Willow Prew, Declan Britt, Brayden Smith, Levy Britt, Gage Britt, Carson and Keith Britt.
