Betty Jean Morris Douglas, 88, of Tifton, GA, passed away October 14, 2020, at her home. There will be a private graveside funeral service for her on October 20 at Tift Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Stephen Grantham and Rev. Robbie Paulk will preside.
Betty was born April 17, 1932, in Vandalia, IL, to the late Vernie and Rochelle Fulton Morris. She graduated from Altamont High in 1950, In 1952, she married the late Charles F. “Doug” Douglas, and they shared life together for sixty-eight years. Betty was an active member of First United Methodist Church and served in numerous roles in the community. Her favorite roles by far were wife, mother, grandmother, and friend as she and Doug fulfilled the Christian mission of loving God and others through their faithful service.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Hillard D. Morris and Donald H. Morris.
Betty is survived by daughters Sheri (Stephen) Grantham of Moultrie, GA, and Sandi (Glenn) Edgemon of West Richland, WA; granddaughters Sarah (John) Inzetta of Ellaville, GA, and Rebecca (Matt) Gruver of Tifton; great-grandson Matthew Douglas Inzetta; sister-in-law Betty M. Morris of Altamont, IL; numerous nieces and nephews, and her friend and caregiver Linda Curry of Brookfield, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Tifton, 107 W 12th St, Tifton, GA 31794, or Wesley Glen Ministries, 4580 Mumford Rd., Macon, GA 31210.
