Betty Titus, née Alice Elizabeth Cathones, passed away on September 11, 2025 at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Costandina Cathones and Mabel Stafford Cathones, and her husband Joseph (Joe) Crovatt Titus.
A private graveside service will be held at Oakridge Cemetery.
Betty moved to Southern Nevada from Tifton, GA in 1986 when Joe was named Director of Building and Safety for the city of Henderson. She came to love it there but remained a Southern Belle: She was always perfectly put together; she cut the bread crust off her sandwiches, sent little cards and notes on every occasion, never lost her accent, and thought a “Co-cola” would cure any ailment.
Betty was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tifton, Clark County Museum Guild, Clark County Women’s Democratic Club, and PEO. She also supported the Salvation Army and various animal organizations.
Betty was proud of her two daughters, Dina (Thomas Wright) and Rho (Bill Hudson). She cherished being called Mama Titus by Dina’s political friends and delighted in playing with Rho’s many animals.
Betty loved fairies, violets, chocolate covered cherries, and holiday sweaters, but not grasshoppers, spoiled children, and bad manners. She enjoyed traveling and visited many foreign countries, including Greece, where her father was born. She liked going to the movies with her girls on the weekends, having lunch with the ladies, and visiting the students at Hannah Brown Elementary School.
The family thanks the caring staff at Aegis Living for their love and kindness over the past year and Nathan Adelson Hospice for helping with the transition at the end. We invite you to a celebration of her life to be scheduled later this fall. Betty will return to Tifton to be buried next to Joe.
Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
