Mr. Bobby Thomas Sumner, 86, of Enigma passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Mark Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 20th from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home before the service.
Don Pearson, Mike Pearson, Greg Stone, Jeff Parson, Donnie Sumner and Michael Sumner will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hardy, Donald Pearson, Wendell Pearson, Randolph McDaniel, Benny Arnold, Harold Allen, Bobby Metts, Larry Crumley, Leroy Little, Sonny Mathis, Jerry Whitley, Ronnie Sumner, Roger Sumner, Larry Railey, Rick Maluda, Pvt. Preston Luke, Ronald Harbin, Ronald Stone, Bud Tucker, Gene Gray, Llewelyn Roberts, Tim Walker and Eddie Lee Sims.
Mr. Sumner was born February 6, 1935 in Irwin County to the late Ralph J. Sumner and Lillian Kendrick Sumner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Eulyn Sumner. He was a member of Enigma Congregational Christian Church. Mr. Sumner had lived in Enigma most of his life. He was a farmer for many years and then raised cows. After his years as a farmer and raising cows, he became a building contractor and enjoyed building and remodeling houses until his retirement. Mr. Bobby was active in his church where he served many years as a deacon. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. He was a family man and his favorite times were spent with his family.
Mr. Sumner is survived by his wife, Barbara Pearson Sumner of Enigma to whom he was married for sixty-one years; one daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Greg Stone of Tifton; three grandchildren, Eric Stone, Thomas Patrick Stone and Katie Stone and one sister and brother-in-law, Peggie and Bentley Barrentine of Enigma.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Tift Area for their compassion during Mr. Sumner’s illness.
