Bonnie was born on April 22, 1945 in Ocilla, Georgia to the late John Thomas Daniel and Mildred Lois Griffin Daniel. In addition to her parents and her brother Gene Daniels, she was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Eugene Scott (Gene) who died July 23, 2001.
Bonnie graduated from Irwin County High School in 1963. She attended ABAC and then went to Beauty School and became a hairdresser. She had her beauty shop at her home. She always said “No profanity and no gossip in my shop! Just prayer requests!”
Bonnie and Gene were married on November 22, 1967. They started going to Northside Baptist Church in 1970. They were saved on December 5, 1971. Her family remembers her saying, “I didn’t understand everything about the Bible, but I knew I needed Jesus! When I got saved, God saved me to the bone!”
Bonnie and Gene worked in the youth department at Northside for many years. Gene drove the bus and Bonnie taught youth Sunday School. They went on several youth retreats and mission trips in the United States and also overseas. Her commitment to serving others extended to various roles within the church including assisting in the cookie ministry to participating in jail ministry and even bringing joy as part of the clown ministry. Bonnie’s creativity shone through as she helped at the church with the costumes, makeup and hair for the One Starry Night events. She consistently attended Bible Study and she loved reading her Bible.
Mrs. Bonnie was known for her infectious smile and unwavering positive attitude which endeared her to everyone she met. She genuinely cared about those around her and many of those who knew her have shared that they knew she really loved them.
Her children and grandchildren gave her so much joy! Bonnie is survived by her son and daughter-in-love, Daniel and Sky Scott of Pretoria, South Africa and her daughter and son-in-law, Stacie and Mike Hall of Tifton, Georgia and her grandchildren, Dannie Ann Hall, River Belle Scott, Country Daniel Scott, and Savanna Sky Scott. She was known as Mimi.
She is also survived by her two brothers Bruce Daniels, James Riley Daniels, her sister-in-law, Paula Daniels and many nephews and nieces.
Before she died, Bonnie wrote these words about her life:
“I love my church, Northside Baptist. I love my church family. My church family has prayed my family and I in and out of so many things. God has given me so many friends and I love my friends deeply. I know where my Help comes from. My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth. (Psalm 121:1-2) God will give you what you need when you need it. God will never forsake you. God will never leave you. God will always keep His promises. God will always love you. God will always forgive you.”
In honoring Bonnie Daniel Scott’s memory, her family asks that we remember Jesus Christ! Jesus saved Bonnie from her sin. Jesus put the song in Bonnie’s heart and the smile on Bonnie’s face. She would want everyone to know and love and follow her Jesus!
If you plan to attend her service, the family asks that you wear cheerful colors to honor her.
In lieu flowers, the family requests that you contact Northside Baptist Church at 229-382-6855 to donate to missions.
