November 11, 1944 — January 25, 2024

Tifton

Carl Dwight Moore, a devoted husband, father, granddaddy and active member of the Northside Baptist Church, passed away on January 25, 2024, at the Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia. He was born on November 11, 1944, in Bridgeport, Alabama in his grandmother’s house, as the only child of his loving parents, the late Carl Moore and Bobbie Pace Moore.  His father Carl, died when Dwight was very young so he was raised by his amazing step father Cecil Stewart and mother. Along with his stepfather and parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Rick Bynum and his mother-in-law Luckie Bynum

Dwight will always be remembered for his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and his dedication to spreading the love of Christ to those around him. He served as a Sunday school teacher for forty years, a church deacon and was also a chaperone on numerous mission trips for the girls Acteens. He was the Northside Baptist Church male honorary Acteen. His commitment to his church and community reflected his strong belief in the power of serving others.

Sports enthusiasts would often find Dwight cheering passionately for his favorites, the Atlanta Braves baseball team and the Auburn Tigers football team. His infectious enthusiasm for the games brought joy to those who shared in his excitement. Whether it was following the teams wins or consoling fellow fans during losses, Dwight's loyalty to the Braves and Tigers was unwavering.  Dwight was also a regular at the Tifton Mall Waffle House for many years where he was served his daily coffee by the wonderful morning crew.

Dwight completed his early education in 1963, at Scottsboro High School in Scottsboro, Alabama. Following high school, he pursued higher education at Auburn University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1967. After graduation he started a career with Sears in Atlanta. During his career he worked with Gov. Jimmy Carter in 1972 with the GA Reorganization program on helping the state of Georgia save money. He moved his family to Tifton, Ga. in 1995 where he utilized his academic foundation and professional career in management with Orgill Distribution Service in Tifton from 1995 to 2011.

As much as Dwight loved Northside Baptist Church and his sports teams, nothing could compare to the love he had for Jesus and his family. His unwavering faith, the love he had for his family and friends, and his dedication to serving others will be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. Dwight's legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and selflessness—a remarkable example for us all.

For fifty-five wonderful years, he was married to Janice Bynum Moore—a partnership built on trust, commitment, and unwavering love. Together they raised two children: Wendi Gambrell (Chris Gambrell) and Andy Moore (Stephanie Moore). The joy that their family brought him was immeasurable.  He is also survived by Jan’s sister and brother-in-law, who were like his own, Annette and Jacky Miller and her sister-in-law, Rebecca Bynum

Dwight found immense happiness in being a granddaddy to four grandchildren: Noah Gambrell, Cade Moore, Elijah Moore, and Maelyn Moore. He cherished every moment spent with them and showered them with love, wisdom, and guidance. His grandchildren will always remember him as a kind-hearted and patient role model.  His family takes solace knowing that he is now in the warm embrace of his Lord and Savior.

In times of immense difficulty during his extended illness, Dwight's strength and resilience shone through. He faced each day with unwavering courage and an unyielding determination that inspired everyone around him.
