"Frog" Charles Edward Garren

Charles Edward Garren, fondly known as “Frog,” passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Pruitt Health in Albany, Georgia. Born on July 13, 1944, in Tift County, Georgia, Charles lived a life rooted in family, and country living

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Albritton Funeral Directors, 1020 Tift Ave N., Tifton, Georgia. The funeral service will be on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Christopher House officiating and Mr. Cal Carpenter delivering eulogy. The interment will follow at Rutland Family Cemetery, 5210 Union Rd, Tifton, Georgia.

Robby Garren, Tim Handley, Colt Garren, Fred Carpenter, Dennis House, Rowdy Garren, Tripp Giddens and Noah Garren will serve as pallbearers.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Rutland Garren, to whom he was married to for sixty-one years. Charles’s legacy continues through his two sons, Charles Kenneth and his wife Tracy Laurel Garren, and Tommy and his wife, Beth Garren, who embody his character and commitment to family. He is remembered as a loving grandfather to Robby Garren, Colt Garren, Lori Handley, Rowdy Hoss Garren, Tripp Giddens, and Noah Charles Garren, each of whom brought great joy to him. His influence extends further to his great-grandchildren: Emily Handley, Mark Garren, Reed Handley, Avery Garren, Wilder Garren, and Maeve Giddens. Charles is also survived by his brothers, Russell “Tootsie” Garren and Frank Garren.

He was preceded in death by his father James Thomas Garren, his mother Lucy Mae Walker Garren, his sister Carolyn Faulkner, and his brothers Jehu Thomas Garren, John “Cooter” Garren, Tony Garren, and James Eugene Garren. Their influence and love remained with him always and shaped the man he became.

Charles’s life was marked by his deep ties to the place of his birth and to the farming community of Tifton, Georgia. Charles was a true cowboy and he loved coon hunting, fishing, and just having a good time in life. He never met a stranger and he loved being the center of a conversation. Living the farm life made Frog happy.
