A graduate of Turner County High School in 1958, Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962, exemplifying dedication and service early in his life. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career with the Georgia - Federal State Inspection Service, where he worked as an agriculture inspector for twenty-two years. His commitment to agricultural excellence reflected his steadfast work ethic and devotion to the stewardship of Georgia’s natural resources.

Wayne’s passions extended beyond his professional life. He found joy in watching old westerns on television, a pastime that brought moments of comfort and nostalgia. He was also an avid gardener, taking great pride in maintaining the neatness and beauty of his yards, which stood as a testament to his care and meticulous nature. Above all, Wayne cherished visiting with his family, finding happiness in their company and the bonds they shared.

He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Julia Vivian Newell Yawn, who was his steadfast companion through all of life’s seasons. Together, they raised a loving family, including their daughter Victoria "Vicki" Yawn Hornbuckle and her husband Zan, as well as their son Gregory Wayne Yawn and his wife Shannon. Wayne treasured his role as a grandfather and is fondly remembered by his granddaughter Elizabeth Yawn, along with his grandsons Alex Hornbuckle and Zachary Hornbuckle. His life was further enriched by numerous nieces and nephews and his brothers and sisters-in-law.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Isaiah Yawn; his mother, Mary Rebecca Ward Yawn; and his sister, Mary Jo Yawn Adams. Their memories remain cherished in the hearts of all who knew him.

His presence will be dearly missed, yet his memory will forever remain a guiding light for his family and community.
