Mr. Charles “Charlie” Lindsey Giddens, 94 of Tifton died Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia.
A graveside service will be held, Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Oakridge Cemetery with Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. and Mr. Danny Cooper will present a eulogy.
Daniel Deen, Ricky Barnes, Ricky Short, Tripp Giddens, Brandon Short and Turner Mathis will serve as pallbearers. Honoary pallbearers will be the staff of Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia.
Mr. Giddens was born June 9, 1927 in Worth County to the late Clarence Edward “Manhoss” Giddens and Ruby Tindall Giddens Summers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elma Lou Kennedy Giddens who died in 2005; his son William Eddie Giddens; his granddaughter Leila Giddens; his stepfather Lonnie Summers; one sister Janet Eldridge and five brothers. Mr. Giddens was a member of Tift Avenue Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from Georgia Department of Transportation after many years. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Mr. Charlie loved to garden and grow beautiful flowers. He resided at the nursing home for many years and was friend and helper to other residents. He was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working on engines. Mr. Charlie was a sports fan and especially loved the Atlanta Braves.
Mr. Giddens is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Peggy Giddens, Sr., and Jerry and Penny Giddens all of Brookfield; five grandchildren, Larry “Doodle” Giddens, Jennifer Barnes, Kim Giddens, Staci Morris and Kay Lynn Giddens; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Pearson and Doris and Junior Ball all of Tifton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
