Mr. Charles Gary Pate, Sr., 62, of Tifton, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
A private graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2020 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Larry Layfield and Rev. Jimmy Cargle officiating. His family will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Pate was born May 12, 1958 in Turner County, Georgia to Betty Chloe Summers Pate and the late Charles Henry Pate. Mr. Pate was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Chula and a graduate of Tift County High School. He was a retired salesman and had lived most of his life in Tift County. He was a family man and loved being involved with his sons and grandchildren. Gary was an avid GA Bulldog Fan. He was very active in his church and enjoyed coaching young people. He enjoyed making people laugh and was a giving person to anyone in need. Gary loved to fish, camp and traveling to the beach.
Mr. Pate is survived by his wife, Pamela Lee Marchant Pate of Tifton to whom he was married for forty-two years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Brittani Pate and Charles Gary “Chip” Pate, Jr. and Laura Pate all of Tifton; six grandchildren, Kyler Pate, Tristen Pate, Kalvin Pate, Breanna Smith, Addilyn Pate and Maddox Pate; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Roger Greer of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina and Beth and Rev. Jimmy Cargle of Tifton.
