Mr. Coil Hayward Shiver, 84, of Tifton passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Brother Chuck Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 17th from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Shaun Shiver, Kennis Riggins, Doug Shiver, Brian Bennett, Daniel Murray and Keith Bauer will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Shiver was born November 22, 1936 in Colquitt County to the late James Ransom Shiver and Iris Taylor Shiver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dona Bailey Shiver who died January 2, 2018 and to whom he was married for thirty-six years at her death, mother of his two children, Phyllis Hunter Shiver, three sisters, Odessa Fuentes, Gwen Snipes and Patsy Shiver, two brothers, James Rudolph Shiver and LaDon Shiver and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Shiver. Mr. Shiver was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was born and raised in Colquitt County and had lived in Tifton since 1980. Mr. Coil was a graduate of Norman Park High School. He was proud of his military service and loved his country. Mr. Coil enjoyed his many years as an engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation and built many bridges around South Georgia. He was a family man and was most happy spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren. He liked the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and working in his yards. He was a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.
Mr. Shiver is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joyce Shiver and Charles Shiver all of Norman Park; three grandchildren, Shaun and his wife Sarah Shiver, Ashley Shiver and Stacey Shiver; one great grandson, Croix Laken Shiver; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Shiver of Moultrie and Gerrie Sue Shiver of Ocala, Fla. He was also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
