Dennis Russell McCurdy

“Dennis Russell McCurdy, born on December 11, 1945, in Irwin County, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence Tifton, Georgia, on Friday, February 27, 2026. 

Dennis dedicated 34 years of his life to the Georgia Department of Transportation, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his job. He was a proud alumnus of Tift County High School, embodying the community spirit that characterized his life.  

A devoted family man, Dennis cherished his grandchildren and took great joy in being an active part of their lives. His love for them was evident, and he enjoyed creating lasting memories with each of them. In his leisure time, he had a passion for sports, and had previously played softball and umpired softball. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, Tift County Blue Devils, and the Georgia Bulldogs. Moreover, he indulged in outdoor activities such as deer and bird hunting, which brought him much happiness. 

 Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Carol McCurdy; his children, Melissa McCurdy (Chairty) , Kathi Stoddard (Larry), and “Russ” Dennis Russell McCurdy, II, (Jessica) , his grandchildren, Zakary Stoddard and McKenzie Gibbs, Connor Stoddard and Madison Croft, Alejandra Serrano, Michael Serrano, Nicholas Serrano, Madalynn Kalinowski, Logan Russell McCurdy, Emma Jean McCurdy.  He was preceded in death by his father, William Elige "Bill" McCurdy; his mother, Geneva Francis Carr McCurdy; his daughter, Robin Kathleen McCurdy; and his brother, Winfred Allen McCurdy.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Albritton Funeral Directors located at 1020 Tift Ave N., Tifton, GA 31794 with Rev. Donnell Brown officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM. 

Dennis Russell McCurdy will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his career, and his deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
