Dennis Daryl Smith, a beloved self-employed mechanic with a passion for cars and motorized machinery, passed away on November 5, 2023, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. John Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 4:45 before the service at the funeral home.
He was born on November 16, 1968, in St Augustine, Florida to Marian Darley Smith and the late Rex Smith.
Dennis had an extraordinary career that spanned many years. He loved working with his hands and had a knack for fixing anything with a motor. His skills extended to wood and metal fabrication, making him a versatile craftsman. Dennis enjoyed the challenge of repairing cars and lawnmowers, but his real passion lay in building racecars. He put his heart and soul into each creation, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable feats in the automotive world.
A man of great ambition and dedication to his craft, Dennis attended Homestead Senior High School in Homestead, Florida, he then pursued his dream of becoming an ASE Certified Mechanic. His unwavering commitment to excellence made him a sought-after professional known for his exceptional skills.
Beyond his impressive accomplishments as a mechanic, Dennis had an infectious personality that endeared him to everyone he met. He had a remarkable ability to bring laughter into any room and was considered a friend by all who knew him. With an easy-going nature and a kind heart, he touched the lives of many.
Dennis's passing leaves an immense void in the lives of those who loved him. He is survived by his devoted wife Laura Scozzafava Smith, his daughter Emily Morris, and his son David Morris all of Tifton. Their memories of Dennis will forever be cherished as they navigate this difficult time together.
He also leaves behind two sisters who were dear to him: Deirdre Bradley of West Virginia and Debi Sutton of Michigan. Their bond as siblings was unbreakable and filled with love and support.
Today we gather not to mourn the loss of Dennis but to celebrate his incredible journey and the lasting impact he had on our hearts. He will forever be remembered as a talented mechanic, a loving family man, and a cherished friend. In his memory, let us keep his joyous spirit alive and continue to spread laughter and kindness to all those we encounter. May he rest in eternal peace.
