Dolphus Skaggs

Dolphus “Sam” Skaggs, 82, of Enigma passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 9th at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Roger Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 8th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Skaggs grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of VFW #5978 of Nashville.

Mr. Skaggs was born September 8, 1935 in Grayson County, Ky., to the late Rudolph Skaggs and Dessie Skaggs.  Mr. Skaggs was married to Patricia Newton Skaggs of Enigma for forty-nine years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Rocky Allen Skaggs; one daughter, Tammy Skaggs; two sisters and two brothers.  He was a member of Vanceville Congregational Church and he was a self-employed mechanic. Mr. Skaggs was a Veteran of United States Army and had lived in Tifton and Berrien county since 1976. He was formerly employed with Prince Chevrolet and Colquitt County Board of Commission as a mechanic. He loved his family, working on cars and telling jokes.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Skaggs is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Saundra and Kenneth Hill of Mt. Sherman, Ky., Joyce and Gary Foster of Elizabethtown, Ky.; five sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Kim Skaggs of Houston, Texas, Michael and Angie Sivalia of Ocilla, Rudolph and Mary Skaggs of Enigma, Patrick Skaggs of Fitzgerald and Lance and Renee Skaggs of Missouri. Thirty-five grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
