Donald "Don" Gene Bowers

Mr. Donald “Don” Gene Bowers, 88, of Tifton passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022 at his residence.

His funeral service will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors. A eulogy will be given by Mitch Hickman. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.

Don Bowers, John Bowers, Bill Grantham, Austin Avant, John Guarnieri, Mitch Hickman and Mark Achberger will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Bowers was born May 29, 1933 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Edward Bowers and Myrtle Schmahlenberger Bowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Ann Grantham Bowers who died January 7, 2015 and his two sisters, Opal Clark and Shirley Griggs. Mr. Bowers was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a self-employed mechanic and owner of Don’s Union 76 and Don Bowers Standard Oil from 1966 to 1977.  Later he was employed with Miller Brewery in Moultrie from 1978 to 1995 where he was decorator of beer cans. He loved to garden and maintain his lawn. Mr. Bowers was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sons, John and Jennifer Bowers of Tifton and Don Bowers and Beth McKeever of Tifton; his grandchildren, LeAnna and Mitch Hickman, Christine Bowers, Jamie Bowers, Mark Achberger, Erica Pippin, Autumn Tawzer and Kelly McKeever, Joey McKeever and Jesse Hyden; his great grandchildren, Grayson Bowers, Adley Bowers, Finley Bowers, Ava Kate Achberger and Lauren (Lil’ Boy )Hickman .
