Ty Ty, Georgia

Donnie Wilson Ward, 78, a devoted farmer and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026, in Albany, Georgia, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on April 12, 1948, in Tifton, Georgia, Donnie’s life was deeply rooted in the community and traditions that shaped him from childhood through to his final days.

A proud graduate of Tift County High School, class of 1967, Donnie chose a path closely aligned with his heritage. Following in his father’s footsteps, who farmed the family land for an impressive sixty-five years until his death in 2003, Donnie continued the sacred tradition of cultivating the farm with diligence and care. His connection to the land was more than just a career—it was a lifelong passion. He cherished every moment outdoors, whether tending to his crops, deer hunting, or enjoying quail and dove hunting accompanied by his special hunting dogs. His barn and welding work were further extensions of his love for craftsmanship and the rural life he embraced so fully.

Donnie was a man who valued family above all. He loved his wife of forty-four years, Ramona Joyce Hines Ward, with whom he shared decades of partnership and devotion. He was a proud father to his only daughter, Mandi Leigh Ward, and held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, K. C. Keith, and Karsyn Caulder whom he adored dearly. Donnie also leaves behind his brother, Ray Ward, and his wife, Thea Laine; along with cherished nieces Kim Seigler and Dawn Fain, and nephews Audie Bailey and Dr. Jay Phillips. His daughter’s fiancé, Jared Chance Chaulder, was also a part of the close-knit family circle that was so important to him. Along with his parents, Wilson McDuffy Ward and Maggie Lee Stembridge Ward, he was predeceased by two sisters, Clarice Phillips and Betty Jean Bailey.

Donnie’s gentle spirit and steadfast nature touched those around him deeply. He was known for his unwavering love for family, particularly his grandchildren, and the warm legacy he leaves behind is testament to the life he lived with integrity and heart.
