Doris Edna Goodman Blanchard

Doris Edna Goodman Blanchard, born April 16, 1938, in Tifton, Georgia, passed away on September 25, 2026, at The Legacy Village of Tifton Assisted Living & Memory Care. Her life was one rooted in family, faith, work, and the simple, enduring joys of caring for others.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Dan Eidson officiating. The interment will follow the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. on Saturday, October 3, 2026 before the service at the funeral home.

Kevin Ward, Matt Hughes, Elisha Maye, Staten Maye, Adam Brooks and Tye Munn will serve as pallbearers.

A long-time resident of Tifton, Doris attended Tifton High School and later graduated from Tifton Beauty School, preparing for the work that would become not only her professional life but a meaningful part of her daily life. She was a self-employed hair stylist at Beauty Villa, where she built lasting connections with those she served. She enjoyed getting to know all of her clients from her beauty shop, and through that work she offered not only skill and care, but also companionship, conversation, and kindness.

Doris found happiness in the things that made a home and a community flourish. She loved working in her yards and growing flowers, and she took special pleasure in cooking for her family and for her church family. A member of Victory Baptist Church, she lived with a generous spirit that reached well beyond her own household. She loved to laugh, and she had a gift for listening to other people’s problems and offering advice. In this way, she became a mother figure to many beyond her own children, sharing warmth, steadiness, and encouragement with those around her.

Nothing brought her greater delight than her family. She especially treasured watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in their extracurricular activities, including dancing, western horseback competition, and playing baseball & softball. Those moments of pride and presence reflected the deep devotion she carried for each generation of her family.

She is survived by her son, Dwayne and Cheryl Hobbs; her daughters, Vickie Gunter, Pam Keith, and Cheryl Daugherty; her grandchildren, Tye Munn, Mallory Ward and her husband, Kevin Ward, Harley Littrel, and Brittany Ward; her great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Ward, Raylin Ward, and Landon Ward; her sister, Diane Giddens and a special friend of the family, Larry Gunter.  Each of them carries forward the memory of her laughter, her counsel, her care, and the abiding love she gave so freely.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jim and Vera Eason Goodman; her brother, James Travis Goodman; and her sisters, Ruby Stone and Jeanette Handy.

Doris will be remembered as a woman who welcomed others with an open heart, worked faithfully, loved deeply, and found joy in the lives of those around her. Her memory will remain a blessing to her family, her friends, her church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Legacy Village for their loving care for Ms. Doris and their family along with Whitney Chung and the staff from Eternal Faith Hospice.
