Doris Elizabeth Cute Garvey of Sandy Springs, Georgia passed away peacefully in her sleep at her son’s home in Tifton, Georgia on November 26, 2025, just over one month after celebrating her 96th birthday. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 8, 1929, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Doris was the youngest child of Edith and Michael Cute. At the age of three, while playing in her family’s backyard, Doris met her five-year-old next-door neighbor, Jim Garvey. The two became inseparable childhood friends, remained close throughout their school years, and married in 1950 while Jim was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Together they shared a beautiful sixty-seven-year marriage until Jim’s death in 2016.

A devoted Catholic, Doris was a longtime parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church in Sandy Springs, where she served for many years as president of the Cardinal Circle Club. She and Jim cherished a wide circle of friends in Sandy Springs, enjoyed socializing, treasured their summers in Highlands, North Carolina, and the many happy family vacations on Longboat Key, Florida.

Above all, family was the center of Doris’s life. She was the proud and loving mother of four children and grandmother of five grandchildren. Doris is survived by, her daughter Lorena Zatcoff (Sandy) of Delray Beach, Florida; her son Michael Garvey (Brenda) of Tifton, Georgia; her son Christopher Garvey of Sandy Springs; and her grandchildren, Dorian Garvey and Michael Patrick Garvey of Tifton, Mollee Garvey of Sandy Springs, and Michael Wall of Huntsville, Alabama.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jim; her parents Edith and Michael Cute; her brother Donald Cute; her sister Catherine; her daughter Catherine Garvey; and her granddaughter Angela (age 3).

Doris will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Sandy Springs at a later date, next to her beloved Jim, daughter Catherine, and granddaughter Angela.
