Florence (Salmons) Stone

Florence Salmons Stone, 96, of Tifton passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Legacy Village in Tifton.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Sunday, August 13, 2017 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Benjy Varnell and Rev. Greg Love officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-2:30 pm before the service at the funeral home.

Chip Doss, Mark Doss, Ryan Doss, Todd Gann, Craig Dean, Mason Gann, Colby Gann and Will Dean will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Stone was born on April 24, 1921 in Denison Texas to the late Charles Oscar Salmons and Ora Mae Cox Salmons. After graduating from high school, she received her associate degree at San Diego State College.  She was married to the late Robert M. Stone who passed away in 1992. Mrs. Stone grew up in San Diego, California where she met Mr. Robert while he was serving in the U.S. Army and they were married for fifty years. They moved to Tifton in 1946. Mrs. Stone was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tifton where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. She was a strong devoted Christian woman. Mrs. Stone was also an excellent seamstress and loved to read.

Mrs. Stone is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen Doss of Duluth, GA and Marie and David Gann of Tifton; four grandchildren, Chip and Michelle Doss, Mark Doss, Todd and Amelia Gann and Tammy and Craig Dean; and seven great grandchildren, Ryan Doss, Elizabeth Doss, Blaire Doss, Mason Gann, Colby Gann, Jenna Brooke Gann and Will Dean. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Ray Doss and one great grandchild, Tucker Doss.
