Geraldine Nutt Beggs

Geraldine Nutt Beggs, 92, of Tifton died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at her residence.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Albritton Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Hank House and Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating. A private interment will be at a later date at Tift Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Friday before the service from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Beggs was born on June 14, 1924 to the late Rolly Monroe Nutt and Allie Mae Crosby Nutt in Brooks County.

Mrs. Beggs graduated from Pavo High School in 1941.She met her husband of 53 years, Clyde Beggs, in the Medical Corps in Thomasville. He died July 25, 1999. Mrs. Beggs lived in Tifton since 1946. She retired from Sears after 28 years of service and was a Pink Lady at Tift Regional Medical Center for 28 years.  As a member of First United Methodist Church of Tifton, Mrs. Beggs was a member of the Loyalty Sunday School class. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary and a former member the Garden Gate Garden Club. Mrs. Beggs enjoyed gardening and canning.

Mrs. Beggs is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Marsha Beggs of Coolidge; one daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Larry Waits of Tifton; three grandchildren, Russ Beggs, Jason and Laura Beggs, and Scott Cooper; two great grandchildren,  Asher Beggs and Nora Beggs; a sister-in-law, Grace Nutt of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

In addition to her husband, Clyde Beggs, Mrs. Beggs was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Nutt, Pascal Nutt and Charles Nutt and two sisters, Mattie Byrd and Myrtle Benton.

Flowers will be accepted or donations to Pregnancy Crisis Center, 1411 Tift Avenue, Tifton, Georgia 31794.
