Haskell "Riney" Rinehart Fulmer

October 4, 1935 — April 27, 2018

Haskell Rinehart “Riney” Fulmer, 82, passed suddenly into heaven’s glory from his home in Chula, Georgia, on April 27, 2018.

A private family service will be held in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors on Sunday, April 29, 2018 with Dr. Hal Fulmer officiating. Private interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens.

Riney was born on October 4, 1935, in Jacksonville, Florida, and grew up both in Jacksonville and in Sneads, Florida, the historic home of both his parents.  He graduated from Sneads High where he was a starting member of the SHS men’s basketball team state runner-up squad in his senior year.  In that senior year, he was honored as the top male athlete at Sneads.  He was a multi-year, multi-sport letterman.

Riney graduated from Florida State University, where he majored in physical education.  It was at FSU that he met his future wife, Lynnell Reynolds, at a Sigma Phi Epsilon-Alpha Omicron Pi spaghetti supper.  They married in 1955 and celebrated 62 years of marriage this past December.  Riney later served as president of the FSU chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon

Riney briefly played minor league baseball before joining the State Farm Insurance Companies, first as an agent and later as an executive.  He was honored at the 1981 national corporate conference in Montreal as one of the top agency directors company-wide.  He retired from State Farm in 1995, following 35 years with the company.

He leaves behind his wife, Lynnell R. Fulmer, who was the love of his life for more than six decades.  He is also survived by his son, Dr. Hal Fulmer of Troy, Ala., daughters Kathy Fulmer Beasley  and Karen Fulmer Kimsey both of Chula: son-in-law Dr. John Beasley of Chula and daughter-in-law Judy Fulmer of Troy, Ala., and grandchildren Kathryn Beasley, Joshua Kimsey and Jonah Enfinger.  He was preceded into glory by his parents, H.V. and Elizabeth King Fulmer as well as his son, Forrest Rinehart and a sister, Rachael Keeney.

Riney loved the Lord, his family, Florida State University, and the South. He was a student of history and he enjoyed fishing.  He taught Sunday School for many years as a member of Southern Baptist churches and was a lay speaker in the Methodist Church.  In his retirement, he enjoyed being a part of the Chula community.  He was a member of the Exchange Club in Albany, Georgia, during his years there and served in leadership roles at Byne Memorial Baptist Church.  He and his family travelled widely and internationally in Europe as well as the Pacific during his career with State Farm.

Funeral arrangements are through Albritton Funeral Directors and services will be private for the family with internment in the Tift Memorial Gardens.
