Mrs. Henrietta Smith Heyerdahl, 93, of Moultrie formerly of Tifton passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Legacy Village at Park Regency in Moultrie.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. No formal visitation.
Mrs. Heyerdahl was born June 3, 1927 in Clinch County to the late Henry and Alma Walton Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Bertrand Heyerdahl who died July 24, 2002 and her brother, Wallace “Pete” Smith. Mrs. Heyerdahl was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tifton and was a retired Social Worker for Tift County Board of Education. Mrs. Henrietta got her Bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State College and her Master’s degree from the University of Georgia. She was active in her church where she enjoyed volunteering and she played in the Kitchen Band. She was a great cook. Mrs. Heyerdahl loved to help underprivileged children and she encouraged every child to graduate from High School. She went above and beyond her responsibilities to keep all children in school until they graduated. Mrs. Henrietta loved animals and adopted many over the years. She was extremely dedicated to caring for her mother and father during their latter years.
Mrs. Heyerdahl is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Linda Heyerdahl of Tifton; her daughter, Janet Gill of Moultrie; her granddaughter and grandson, Kristy and Bobby Cooper of Moultrie; two great grandchildren, Lance Cooper and Ivey Cooper of Moultrie.
