Jack enjoyed an esteemed career spanning over twenty years with The Georgia Federal Inspection Service, where he served as an Assistant Supervisor and where he worked in inspections. His commitment to his work mirrored the values he held dear in life—honesty, loyalty, and a desire to uplift others.
Known for his warm personality, Jack had a natural ability to connect with people. He was always willing to offer good advice. He was well known for calling the women and girls in his life "darling." His enjoyments extended to the great outdoors, where he often indulged in fishing and hunting, referring to these activities as spending time in "God's Garden." Jack found joy in nature, whether or not he found success in his catches or hunts.
Jack is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Laura Phillips; his sister, Diane Gorday; his sister, Brunell Arthur; his sister, Wilda Trepper and her husband, Bob; as well as a large and loving group of nieces and nephews: Clint and Heather Phillips, Brittany and Tyler Luke, Bert and Mica Gorday, Chad and Nikki Gorday, Shannon Cupp, Randal and Lindsey Arthur, Jennifer and Jordan Long, Justin and Carla Trepper, and Katrina and Eric Richter along with many great nieces and nephews and Willie the dog, whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Idus Jackson Phillips and Ruby Lee Burdett Phillips; his brothers-in-law, George Gorday and Randy Arthur; and his nephew, Ronnie Cupp.
Jack's legacy of love, kindness, and outdoor spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him.
