James Mark Walker, known to many as Mark Walker, passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on January 4, 1945, he lived a life defined by steady faith, hard work, and simple pleasures.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, located on Magnolia Drive, Tifton, Georgia 31794 with Rev. Keith Norris officiating and Mr. Guy Haynes delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
Mark was a 1964 graduate of Tift County High School. He went on to serve his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. In his working years, he was a truck driver and dock worker for SAIA LTL Freight, where he was known as a hardworking and simple man. Outside of work, he enjoyed woodworking, finding satisfaction in the honest craft of working with his hands.
A faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church of Tifton where he served as a deacon. Mark’s faith was an important part of his life and one of his proudest accomplishments. He will be remembered for his dependable nature, his quiet strength, and the example he set through a life of labor, devotion, and humility.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Hester Walker; his daughter, Tracie Walker and her wife, Kathi McCorvey; his sister, Sharon Walker Pridgen, and his nephew, Chad and Mary Pridgen. He also leaves behind the memory of the love and bond he shared with his family, who will continue to carry him in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur Walker and Mildred Selph Walker; his daughter, Sabrina Walker; and his brother-in-law, Wayne Pridgen.
Mark Walker will be remembered with love and respect by all who knew him.
