Jean Marie Stover Moore, 78, of Chula, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1st at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Chula with Rev. Chad Hall and Rev. Brian Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, May 31st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Chula.
Pallbearers will be Thom Roberson, Trippe Moore, Chesley Gunn, John David Moore, Greg Moore and Scott Purvis. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Moore, Kevin Moore, Terry Moore, Mike Moore, Robbie Tomlinson, Thomas Ganas, Terry Ganas, Elvin Andrews and Tommy Simpson.
Mrs. Moore was born June 28, 1939 in Lithonia, Georgia to the late Henry Perry Stover and Alene Morgan Stover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Felton Stover and her sister, Sarah Stover Boozer. She was married to William Edward Moore for sixty years. She graduated from Lithonia High School where she was valedictorian and attended University of Georgia. Mrs. Moore was a member of First Baptist Church of Chula where she was very active, playing the organ for forty years, music director for Precious Moments Choir, member of the hand bell choir and helped with bible school. Mrs. Moore worked with Special Ed children, worked with Ladies Auxiliary at Tift Regional Medical Center, worked as extension secretary with 4-H students and was currently secretary for Moore Enterprises. She was known as “Mama Jean” and loved by many. Mrs. Moore had lived in the Tifton area since 1961. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She made birthday cakes and wedding cakes.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Sid Roberson of Tifton, Mandi and Roger Mangham of Wilsonville, Ala.; one son and daughter-in-law, William Edward “Eddie” Moore, Jr., and Marie Moore of Forsyth; seven grandchildren, Syndee Roberson, Thom and Maci Roberson, Spencer Moore, Trippe Moore, Krysten and Chesley Gunn, Brooke Mangham and Emily Mangham.
