Jeanette (North) Smith

October 19, 1939 — June 18, 2017

Jeanette North Smith (Zaruba), 77, of Sparks, previously of Brookfield, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11am in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Shelton Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 20 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Jake Sumner, James Mills, Alan Webb, Tony Kirkland, Ricky Howell and Caleb North will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Smith was born in Lanier County on October 19, 1939 to the late Curtis B. and Mary Lois Crawford North. She was a former member of First Assembly of God Church in Tifton for many years. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She planted and brought life to the gazebo at Serenity Assisted Care Living where she lived because she loved to grow and nurture flowers. Mrs. Smith also was an excellent cook, loved physical activity, sewing and crocheting. She loved her husband, James Walter Smith who died in October, 1996 and she was loved and adored by her family.

Mrs. Smith is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Alison Smith of Brookfield; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cindy and Paul Mills of Alapaha, Lynette Smith Sumner of Savannah and Karon and Olan Webb of Tifton; seven grandchildren, Brittany Alison and Tony Kirkland, Renee Mills Kicklighter, Anna Mills, James Mills II, Jacob R. Sumner, Haley Madison Webb and Alan Webb, and four great grandchildren, Caleb Joel Kicklighter, William Maddox Alligood, Piper Marie Mills and Chloe Elizabeth Watson.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, James “J.W.” Walter Smith and one son-in-law, Bennie Ray Sumner, Jr.
