Jimmy Edward Mixon, Sr., a devoted family man and dedicated community member, passed away on May 18, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 24, 1939, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to Lunzy Mixon and Thelma Worth Mixon, both of whom have preceded him in death along with his two brothers, Donald "Buddy" Mixon and Gene Mixon. .

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Corey Thompson, Rev. Randy Gay and Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. Interment will follow at the Old Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Mark Douglas, Jerry Douglas, Dewayne Douglas, Danny Douglas, Don Busbin and Jacob Mixon will serve as pallbearers. The deacons of Macedonia Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Jimmy attended Ben Hill County High School then he served in the United States Army after his studies, demonstrating his commitment to his country. His professional life included serving as a jailer for Tift County, a role in which he poured his energy and dedication.

Jimmy's contributions to the community extended beyond his career, where he also volunteered at the Irwin County Waterloo voting precinct. He was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, reflecting his steadfast faith and commitment to service.

In addition to his public life, Jimmy was a loving family man. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jean Busbin Mixon; his son, Jimmy Edward Mixon, Jr., and his wife, Charity Griffin Mixon; and his cherished grandchildren, Rachel Mixon and Jacob Mixon. His siblings, Betty Douglas, Martha Ellen Jones and her husband Buddy, Irma Royals and her husband Aaron, and Amelia Rose Adams also remain to honor his legacy.

Jimmy was a beloved figure in the community, known for his enjoyment of working and spending time with his grandchildren. He often kept them while their parents worked, underscoring the deep bonds he cherished with his grandchildren. Alongside his family, Jimmy was a member of the Masons and Shriners, participating in parades as part of the Shrine Motor Corps, where he brought joy and inspiration to many.

Jimmy Edward Mixon will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, community, and the values he exemplified throughout his life.
