Phil Cavenaugh,75, born on January 3, 1950, in Tifton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence in Tifton on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, remembered for his vibrant spirit and engaging personality.

Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Phil had a diverse career. He graduated from Tift County High School and spent his younger years as a farmer with his dad. He then further pursued a passion for aviation as a pilot and instructor, along with dedicating seventeen years of his life to UPS Freight, culminating in a rewarding retirement. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, as he also served with honor in the Army National Guard.

Phil cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie Hancock Cavenaugh; his children, Bryan and Michele Cavenaugh, and Jake and Jennifer Cavenaugh; along with five cherished grandchildren, his two sisters, Patricia Metts and Diane Cavenaugh, who provided him with endless joy and laughter throughout his life.

Those who were fortunate to know Phil will remember him for his warmth and sense of humor. He had a natural ability to entertain, especially with his very bad guitar playing and often teasing his sisters and sharing stories that brought smiles to the faces of those around him. His culinary skills were legendary among friends and family; he was known to be a great cook who loved to bring people together through the joy of food. Additionally, his passion for fishing and riding motorcycles allowed him to create fond memories.

He was a proud member of the First Church of Nazarene of Tifton. He was predeceased in death by his father, John Wilder Cavenaugh; his mother, Lois Dixon Cavenaugh; his grandson, Zach Butler; and his sister, Cindy Rhodes.

Phil Cavenaugh will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
