John David Minter

June 20, 1953 — March 17, 2016

Tifton – John David Minter, 62, of Tifton died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with the Rev. Benjy Varnell and the Rev. Willie Beasley officiating. Interment will follow at Hickory Springs Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday, March 19, 2016, 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home.

Lamar Martin, Parker Holloway, Irvin Branch, Reid Ivey, Bubba Harrison, Smitty Lamb and Jimmy Palmer will serve as pallbearers. The Searchers Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Minter was born June 20, 1953, in Fulton County to the late Rev. John Minter and Ann Steed Minter of Atlanta.

The son of a Methodist minister, Mr. Minter moved often when he was younger. He attended the University of Georgia, where he was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, holding season tickets for over 30 years. Mr. Minter was retired from United Parcel Service after 40 years of service where he took great pride in his work. He loved golfing and telling jokes. His grandchildren were the center of his life and he loved having them near. Mr. Minter was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tifton.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Minter is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue Taylor Minter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Cary Lusk of Kennesaw and Katie and Rusty Rozier of Dublin; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and April Minter of Smyrna and Lee and Hillary Minter of Waycross; his mother-in-law, Mae Taylor Bruton of Cairo; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Mark and Dee Minter of Jackson, Steve and Becky Minter of Statham, and Paul Minter of Stone Mountain; and six grandchildren, Landon Lusk, Addie Bishop, Katy Bishop, Sarah Helen Rozier, Rand Rozier and Ellie Minter.

Flowers will be accepted or donations to the First United Methodist Church, 107 W 12th Street, Tifton, Ga. 31794
