Mr. Joseph Carlton Fletcher, 83, of Chula passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Eureka Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Garry Hall and Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.
Ronald Fletcher, Dylan Purvis, Jeremy Thompson, Charlie Fletcher, Benton Thompson, Keigan Thompson, John Brownlee, Daniel Orozcco and Arthur Perrin will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Fletcher was born January 21, 1938 in Irwin County to the late Joe T. Fletcher and Margaret Brown Fletcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Fletcher and his sister, Mildred Byrge Decker. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church in Ft. Valley and was a veteran of the Air National Guard. He had lived his entire life on the Fletcher land where he was born. He was a graduate of Irwin County High School (1956) and was intensely interested in producing cattle and growing corn. Mr. Fletcher was generally a “top notch” farmer. He was a true man of faith, honor and integrity. Mr. Joseph was happiest when he was near his family especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking for his family.
Mr. Fletcher is survived by his wife, Phyllis Brand Fletcher of Chula; his daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Darin Purvis and his son and daughter-in-law, Eric Joseph and Dana Fletcher all of Chula; his grandchildren, Dylan Purvis and Laylon Ivey, Charlie Fletcher, Mallory and Jeremy Thompson and Macy Fletcher; great grandchildren, Keigan Thompson, Raelynn Thompson, Benton Thompson, and Spencer Purvis; his sister Sarah Jones of Chula.
