Judith Hamblin

Judith "Judy" Hamblin, cherished by all who knew her, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Tifton, Georgia, with her loving family by her side at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia. Born on June 11, 1950, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Judy brought warmth and kindness into the world from her earliest days—qualities that would define her throughout a life well lived.

The family will receive friends at her visitation on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 6:15 pm at Albritton Funeral Directors, 1020 Tift Ave N., Tifton, GA.  A memorial service with Rev. John Hughes officiating will follow the visitation, beginning at 6:30 pm.

Judy’s early years were shaped by her unique spirit as a special needs girl, a distinction that never prevented her from embracing life with remarkable optimism and determination. Throughout her life, she cherished the deep bonds of family, always demonstrating an ability to find happiness wherever circumstances placed her. After the passing of her parents, Robert and Joyce Hamblin, she split her time among her siblings’ homes—delighting in each stay and forming special connections to each of her bedrooms and desks.

Judy exemplified commitment and independence in her career. She received training with Goodwill Industries and Lucanus, allowing her to take charge of her working life. For thirteen years, Judy worked at McDonald’s in Ft. Lauderdale, a remarkable accomplishment made even more inspiring by her determination—she took three buses by herself just to get to work. The sense of pride she found in her career was matched only by the pride her family felt for her effort and perseverance.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Judy  loved eating out, shopping at flea markets, catching up on her beloved soap operas, and watching classic western shows. She cherished playing school, often imagining herself as both the teacher and the student along with creating an arts and crafts item to complete her school day. Game shows and card games brought her a unique thrill, especially when played in the presence of dear family and friends. Letters were her special way of keeping loved ones close, and she delighted in writing to friends and family, sharing her thoughts and affection across the miles.

Perhaps Judy’s greatest source of happiness was the time she spent with her nieces and nephew, moments she treasured and considered among her proudest accomplishments. Her social spirit was magnetic; visitors would find her always ready with a smile and eager to welcome them, making all feel at home in her presence.

Judy is lovingly remembered by her brother Bob Hamblin and his wife Charlene; her two sisters Sandy Moore and her husband Jack and Peggy Scozzafava and her husband Richard; along with her cherished nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Joyce Hamblin.

Judith Hamblin’s radiant happiness, courage, and warmth echo in the lives she touched. Her laughter, kindness, and love for her family will be remembered with affection and gratitude. May her memory continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
