Lois Smith Hintermeier

Lois Evelyn Smith Hintermeier, 94, of Tifton, formerly of Macon died Friday, February 17, 2017 at her residence.

Graveside service will be held in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery in Macon Georgia on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Landon Alberson officiating.  Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hintermeier was born on February 13, 1923 in Roberta, Georgia to the late Homer and Alice Lorene Hatchett Smith. She was the widow to the late Edward R. Hintermeier, who died February 27, 2016. Mrs. Hintermeier graduated from Lanier High School for Girls in Macon and was a member of Mabel White Baptist Church in Macon. During WWII Mrs. Hintermeier worked at The Naval Ordinance Plant in Macon.  She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, cooking and sewing. Mrs. Hintermeier loved being a wife and mother along with caring for her family.

Mrs. Hintermeier is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Johnson of Tifton and Deborah and John Groves of Bolingbroke, Georgia; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judy Thames of Charleston, SC; one sister, Francis Johnson of Haddock, GA; eight grandchildren, Thomas Sidney Renfroe, III and Linda, Matthew Earl Renfroe and April, Edward Neal Johnson, Jane Brette Johnson, Alfred Michael Eller and Rachel, Adam Peyton Eller, William Earl Thames, Shannon Elizabeth and Ray Tomkins, Kathryn Melissa Hodges and Randall Lawrence Thames and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hintermeier was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, former Tifton Mayor  Dr. Paul O'Neal Johnson and Thomas Sidney Renfroe, Jr.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Tift Area, Fredricka Henry, Rudine Nixon and Minnie Smith for their love and attention.
