Margie V. Daughtrey

Mrs. Margie Vickers Daughtrey, 94, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 17th at 3:00 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Eidson and Rev. Gerald Purvis officiating. Eulogy will be given by Mrs. Libby Taylor. Interment to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens with Rev. Glenn Ford officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church before the service.

Elisha Maye, Jerry Hill, Nicky Brinkley, Mickey O’Quinn, Colin Maye, Bill Wetherington and Joseph Cook will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Daughtrey was born September 25, 1924 in Cook County to the late Henry S. Vickers and Rosa B. Kinard Vickers.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Daughtrey, Sr., who died 1981, her son, Earl L. Daughtrey Jr., her daughter, Cheryl Sue Fox and twelve brothers and sisters. Mrs. Daughtrey was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Tifton and was retired from Moody Airforce Base after thirty-five years. She lived most of her life in Tift and Cook county. She was an avid pianist and a member of Joy Bells Singing Group. This group carried her to both the U.S. and Georgia Senates. Mrs. Daughtrey was very active in her church singing in the choir and in W.M.U. She loved to fish, cook and enjoyed traveling especially family vacations in the mountains.

Mrs. Daughtrey is survived by one son, Vickers Henry Daughtrey; one daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Daughtrey; six grandchildren, Abigail Sheri Daughtrey Gruver, Benjamin Vickers Daughtrey, Justin Cruz Daughtrey, Tessa Rochelle Rodriguez, Shauna Yvonne Cushion and Jay Ray Johnson; seven great grandchildren, Lewyn and Paige Alexis Daughtrey, Hanna Elaine Veal, Cody Edwin Veal, Jacquelyn Teresa Johnson, Allison Rae Johnson, Laycee Jane Johnson and Brady Reese Cushion.
