Mary Irene Goodson Register, 84 of the Waterloo Community passed away Sunday, December 04, 2022, at her residence.
Her graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Corey Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, December 5, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Mary was born on August 31, 1938 in Bibb County. She graduated High School in Macon from Miller High. After graduating, she worked several years as a switch board operator for Merrill Lynch. She was the only child of the late Redden Goodson and Minnie Lee Batchelor Goodson. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Register, who passed away December 27, 2012.
She was a homemaker who served in many positions with her husband Donald. During his life, he was a principal of Irwin Academy, an Ag Education teacher and a farmer so Mrs. Mary became his secretary, a substitute teacher and a farmer’s wife who loved cook. She was always very involved in the lives of her children when they attended Irwin Academy and Tiftarea Academy. She never met a stranger and she was known as Aunt Mary to many. Her favorite pastimes were cooking, flower gardening, going to the beach, collecting flamingos and helping others. She loved her Waterloo community friends and family and they all loved her.
Her survivors are her three daughters and son-in-law, Angie and Jimmy Dunlap, Jenny Sutton, Kristi Register and Michael Busbin all of the Waterloo community, three grandchildren, Kari & Jeremy Chambers, Belle Register, Justin Sutton; and one-great granddaughter, Jadyn Chambers.
