Matthew was born in Albany, GA, on July 30, 1984, to Scot and Joyce Wall. Matthew’s outgoing personality allowed him to develop many friendships. Matthew loved his family more than anything and was fiercely loyal. He was generous with his time, his resources and his love. He never ended a phone conversation without saying, “I love you.” He was quick to apologize, but even quicker to forgive. He never held a grudge. Matthew was born into the center of a large family, being the fourth of seven children for a reason. He was the glue that held his family together. He loved unconditionally and saw the good in everyone.
Matthew’s chosen profession was one of service. He initially worked as a paramedic because he wanted to be the first one to help in a time of crisis. It did not matter the situation -- he would rush in to provide care to any soul who needed him. Because of his desire to help, he furthered his education and became a registered nurse. He worked in the emergency room, the critical care unit, and was a flight nurse. He loved to care for people, and his sense of adventure led him from Alaska to the oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. He traveled to wherever he was needed during the COVID pandemic to provide care.
Growing up in South Georgia, Matthew loved the great outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing. From a very young age, he could be found on a dock with his “Grandjoe'' who adored his little fishing buddy. Matthew continued this tradition with his own boys and loved to watch them make these same memories, fishing poles in hand. He also loved duck hunting, deer hunting and dove hunting.
Matthew was always fond of a good movie, especially when it could be enjoyed with his children. He also liked good food and was always excited to help his wife Missy cook a delicious meal.
Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hunter (Clarice) Livingston and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Leon (Jean) Wall.
He is survived by his wife Melissa (“Missy”) Felts Wall of Cordele, GA, and his two sons Matthew Scot Wall, Jr. and Aaron Rowland Wall; his parents, Scot and Joyce Wall of Albany, GA; six siblings: Amy Wall Perdue (Stacy) of Johnson City, TN; Bethany Wall Jackson (Chas) of Rome, GA; Bradford Alan Wall (Stacey) of Cartersville, GA; Mark Wesley Wall (Jenna) of Leesburg, GA; Anna Wall Callahan (JC) of Mershon, GA; and Meagan Wall Hendley (Seth) of Dawson, GA; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Gail Felts and his brother-in-law Justin Edward Felts, all of Tifton, GA. Matthew is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews.
Tony Maples, Kerry Crew, Lane Kilpatric, Zac Fender, John Russ, Josh Poitevint, John Loney and Tyler Maples will server as pallbearers and Aaron Crews, Clay Burnette and Justin Felts will be the honorary pallbearers.
