Mattie Lou (Suggs) Ogletree

March 5, 1925 — March 19, 2016

Mattie Lou Suggs Ogletree, 91, of Tifton, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at her residence.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 21, 2016, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chula.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Larry Layfield officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday evening at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Greer, Brett Ogletree, Blake Ogletree, Drew Taylor, Hunter McConnell, and Korey Harper. The Adult III Ladies Sunday School Class of Mount Zion Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Ogletree was born March 5, 1925 in Worth County to Charlie Green Suggs and Reesa Mildred Murphy Suggs, both deceased.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Alvin L. (Buddy) Ogletree who died October 14, 2005. They were married for 59 years at the time for his death. She is also preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Ogletree lived most of her life in Tift County as a retired farmer’s wife and homemaker. She was a great cook and loved tending to her flower beds. She loved having her family and especially her grandchildren near.

Mrs. Ogletree was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for over 50 years where she was a member of the Adult III Ladies Sunday School class and she kept the church nursery for many years.

Survivors are her son Tommy Alvin Ogletree, Sr. and his special friend Ann Swords of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Dennis Greer of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Bill Brown of Poulan; six grandchildren, Stephanie and Jay Taylor, Tommy Ogletree, Jr., Jeff and Brittany Ogletree, Michele Bell-Peppers and Douglas Peppers, Jennifer and Darren McConnell, and Kerri Greer; fourteen great grand children and one great great grandchild.

Flowers will be accepted or donations to the building fund for Mount Zion Baptist Church, 293 Mount Zion Church Road, Chula Georgia 31733 and Southern Care Hospice 412 1st Street SE, Moultrie, Georgia 31768
