Michael Chadwick Thompson, 54, known affectionately as Chad, passed away on October 7, 2025, at Doctors Hospital of Augusta. Born on May 5, 1971, in Tifton, Georgia, Chad was a beloved father, grandfather, son, and brother. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering support for those around him.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Oakridge Cemetery with Mrs. Jeanette Young officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:30 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors before the service at the graveside.
Dawson Pelham, Shaw Pilcher, Seth Pilcher, Bo Johnson, Avery Harper and Jack Towson will serve as pallbearers. Lamar Parker and the employees of M & M Transporting will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Chad dedicated his professional life as a truck driver for M & M Transporting. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for spending quality time with his family. He created lasting memories with his children, particularly during a cherished saltwater fishing trip to Keaton Beach. An avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Chad found joy in cheering on the "dawgs," whether from the comfort of his home or attending games with his kids.
He was not only known for his love of football but also for his grilling experiences, often bringing family and friends together around the barbecue. Chad had a remarkable ability to make people laugh, spreading happiness and warmth wherever he went. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, embodying the spirit of kindness and generosity.
Chad is survived by his children, Kayla and Cody Herndon, Michael Chadwick Thompson, II and Jessie, Chase Thompson, and Joshua Channing Thompson. He was also a proud grandfather to River Shea Thompson, Rhett Herndon, Jed Herndon, and Kolter Herndon. He cherished his relationships with his brothers and sister-in-law, Ches and Stephanie Thompson, Chris Thompson, and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Tamara and Carl Parlor, and Alex and Sam Knight. Additionally, he leaves behind his father, Chesley Ralph Thompson, Jr.
Chad was predeceased by his wife, Donna Bullard Thompson and his mother, Myranell Conley Thompson.
