Mr. Michael “Mike” Kenneth Brown, 67, of Smyrna, Georgia, formerly of Tifton, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Tranquility Hospice at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 25, 2022, in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30am to 10:30am.
Bill Rigdon, Brian Mathis, Mark Mathis, Scott Hudson and Jerry Dill will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Brown was born April 7, 1955, in Tifton. He was born the son of W. P. “Squire” Brown, Jr., and Evelyn Mathis Brown. Mr. Brown was a 1973 graduate of Tift County High School where he was a proud member of “The Dirty Thirty" Blue Devil Football Team.
Mr. Brown was a self-employed grant administrator serving numerous public housing authorities across Georgia, most notably in East Point Housing Authority, College Park and McDonough. He had previously been associated with architectural firms Akin Akin Sheetz & Associates, Bradfield & Associates and Tomberlin & Associates in Atlanta. Mr. Brown was an avid boatsman who enjoyed any time on the water, whether on his boat at Lake Lanier with his rescue dog Alf or being a member of offshore powerboat racing teams. He also enjoyed driving his Camaro convertible and listening to his nephew Austin perform with the acapella vocal band Home Free.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his mother and his infant brother, Michael Timothy Brown.
Mr. Brown is survived by his father of Tifton; his brother Madison “Matt” Brown of Tifton; his sister and brother-in-law (Terrie and Larry Branch) of Tifton; his sister and brother-in-law (Kaycee Brown and Scott Hudson) of Eatonton; his nieces Karly Branch of Orlando, Allison Brown of Savannah, Kelly Hunter of Kingsland and Darby Renee Hudson of Kennesaw; and his nephews Adam Branch of Chula and Austin Brown of Nashville, Tennessee.
