Opal Elizabeth (Cravey) Weeks

Mrs. Opal Elizabeth Weeks, 90. of Tifton, passed away on August 4, 2020, at her daughter’s residence in Tifton.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 6th at 10:00 A.M. at Oakridge Cemetery with the Reverend Terrell Roberts officiating.

Mrs. Weeks was born January 30, 1930 in Colquitt County, Georgia to the late Guy Mitchell Cravey and Gertrude Hinson Cravey. In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Harvey D Weeks who died March 26, 2007.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers, G. W. Cravey, Russell Cravey and Trummy Cravey; five sisters, Faithie Willis, Bertha Nasworthy, Lucille Rayburn, Betty Sue Holloway and Katie Weeks.

She attended Harding United Methodist Church.  Mrs, Opal had lived in Tift County for sixty-six years.  Following her retirement from J. P. Stevens, she worked for years at the Georgia Agrirama where she served as curator and made tea cakes.  Mrs. Weeks was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.  She prided herself in being “the best grandmother” and her grandchildren referred to her as “Nanny O”.  Mrs. Opal was also an excellent seamstress.

Mrs. Weeks is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Freddie and Vickie Weeks of Ty Ty; Duane Weeks of Tifton; one daughter, Linda Weeks Hooker also of Tifton; five grandchildren, Brooke Weeks, Brandy Dorminey, Andrew Weeks, Deana Menard and Kisha Moody; ten great-grand children, Brandon Menard, Mitch Menard, Zack Dorminey, Mitchell Dorminey, Trey Dorminey, Deryne Dorminey, Logan Rowe, Jake Moody, Josh Moody and Aiden Weeks; and one great-great granddaughter, Peyton Dorminey. She is also survived by one brother, Earnest Cravey and one sister, Estell Perry.
