Paul D. Moyer, Sr. a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away on December 26, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Born on July 18, 1944, in Tifton, Georgia, Paul lived a life characterized by his commitment to family, service, community and his country.
His funeral service will be held at Albritton Funeral Directors on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Keith Beasley and other members of the American Legion Post 21 speaking. The family will receive friends and family before the service at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. The interment will follow at Hickory Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors rendered.
Jamie Mitcham, Eric Jackson, Chris Crews and Tim Mitcham will serve as pallbearers. The American Legion Post 21 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
A proud graduate of Paxon High School in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1964, Paul later served in the United States Air Force. He dedicated himself to his country from July 10, 1964, to July 9, 1968 during the Vietnam War, followed by time in the Air Reserve. His military service instilled in him values of dedication and service that would guide him throughout his life.
Professionally, Paul worked at the Moody Airforce Base in Valdosta and the Marine Corp Logistics base in Albany, where he managed the Maintenance department. His ability to lead and care for those around him was mirrored in his involvement with the Tifton American Legion Post 21, where he served as the commander for three years and made lasting contributions to his community.
Paul's personality shone brightly through his loving nature. He had an uncanny ability to lighten the atmosphere with jokes, affectionately calling all the women “sweetie.” His warmth and charm were further illustrated through his love for technology; he enjoyed working with computers and even created memorable slide shows for various life events, such as funeral visitations and wedding anniversaries, allowing family and friends to celebrate the lives and love of those cherished. He also enjoyed drawing, along with creating cards for his friends and family.
Surviving him are his beloved wife, Gloria Driskell Moyer, who stood by his side through all of life's joys and challenges. He is also survived by his two daughters Anita Louise Farrell, Angela Lee Moyer and her husband, Lester Gartman, and his son, Paul D. Moyer, Jr. and his wife, Laura. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren Heather Farrell, Shelby Shepherd and her husband James Mierke, Krista Moyer, Athena Gartman, Railey Moyer, Emily Moyer, Dylan Moyer, along with one great-grandchild, Logan Mierke, who were always the light of his life. Paul is also survived by his siblings: Trecia Crews, Timothy Mitcham and his wife, Kathy, Candice Callahan, along with several nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Paul Moyer and Helen Juanita Marchant Moyer Mitcham, his Dad James Alton Mitcham, his loving grandparents, Hulcy and Naomi Marchant, his niece, Windi Crews, his sister, Donna Miller, including many of his fur babies.
