Peggy "Willene" Watson Hobbs, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and beloved wife, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 10, 1947 in Tift county, Willene was a proud graduate of Tift County High School, class of 1965.
Shortly after graduating from high school in 1965, she married her soulmate, Garry E. Hobbs, and they embarked on a sixty year life long journey together. Over the years, Willene worked as a secretary at Hobbs T.V., held a position at C & S Bank, and later became a driver for Fuji Photo Lab.
Willene was a beacon of positivity and kindness, known for her cheerful disposition and unwavering spirit. She was a devoted wife, loving mother to her daughter Heather Chambless and her husband Clint, and a doting mother to her son Tim Hobbs and his wife Brandy. Her grandchildren, Dylan Hobbs, Dalton Hobbs, and Kate Marie Hobbs, were a significant source of joy in her life, as she delighted in cooking and spending time with them.
Despite facing life’s challenges, including battling breast cancer twice and living with Alzheimer’s disease, Willene remained resilient and never complained. Her love and devotion to her family were evident, and she will be remembered fondly for her warm heart and nurturing nature.
She is survived by her loving husband Garry, her children, her cherished grandchildren, her brother J. R. Watson, and his wife Opal, as well as her sister Betty Jean Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Hiram Watson, Sr. and Dorothy Jackson Watson, as well as her brother-in-law Aubrey Ward.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Albritton Funeral Directors. The funeral service will be on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors located at 1020 Tift Ave N., Tifton, GA 31794 with Mr. Guy Haynes officiating and the interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
