Polly (Jolley) Parnell

Mrs. Polly Jolley Parnell, 90, of Cocoa Beach, Florida formerly of Tifton passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at her daughter’s residence.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Larry Daughtry officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Michael Hocko, Cody Jolley, Mike Jolley, Tyler Barker, Michael Barker and Vinny Ippolito will serve as pallbearers.

Polly was born September 6, 1930 in Tift County to the late R. V. Pope and Ethel Bryant Pope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Eugene (Gene) Parnell who died March 12, 2007 and to whom she was married for sixty years at time of his death, three brothers, Wilbur “Dub” Jolley, Alfred Benjamin “JR” Jolley and Donald Pope. Polly was retired from Ameris Bank as Head Teller where she worked for over thirty years. She was a longtime resident of Tifton and had moved to Florida several years ago to live with her daughter. Miss Polly loved her career at the bank and began with Citizens’ Bank of Tifton and continued until it became Ameris Bank. She was a graduate of Tifton High School in 1949. Polly loved her family and cherished her time with them. Mrs. Parnell loved working in her yard, bowling, dancing and water skiing.

Polly is survived by her daughter, Sharon Parnell Barker of Cocoa Beach, Florida; one grandson Michael Barker; four great grandchildren, Tyler Barker, Ally Barker, Caitlin Phillips and William Goodman and three great great grandchildren, Shane Barker, Bryson Phillips and Brady Lynn Phillips.
